An outreach program of the College of Business, the NKU Family Business Center (FBC) was founded in 1999 to foster the growth and preservation of privately-held and family-owned businesses in the Northern Kentucky / Greater Cincinnati metropolitan region.

It is one of only 130 such university-based programs in the United States and one of only a handful which limits its membership strictly to family businesses.
